If quality wine and gastronomy are at the heart of your travels, then this is the destination for you. Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its landscapes, rich history and exceptional wines, especially Port. You start at Miranda do Douro, where dramatic cliffs mark the border between Portugal and Spain. As you cycle through the Douro International Nature Reserve, you will pass through forests, almond groves and terraced vineyards. A light picnic is offered at each stage. Over the course of the tour, you'll taste more than twenty wines, complemented by five dinners and three guided wine tastings, as well as a local olive oil tasting to complete your gastronomic experience, highlighting the rich flavours of the region. We will welcome you at the airport and take you to the easternmost corner of your holiday - Miranda do Douro. On the way, marvel at the Douro River Canyon, with its dramatic cliffs rising over 200 metres. Don't miss the unique local tradition of the Pauliteiros dancers, who perform their ancient folk dance on festive summer days, or the region's distinctive cultural heritage, where the Mirandês language is still spoken in this picturesque area. You will dine in a place perched on a hillside overlooking the Douro River, with panoramic views of the valley. Your experience begins with a welcome drink, and you'll be able to taste the iconic Posta Mirandesa, a succulent piece of meat from the indigenous breed, grilled to perfection to retain all its juiciness and flavour. And, to top it all off, it'll be paired with a Reserve wine from the region.
The cycle takes you through the tranquil highland plateau of the Natural Park, a region renowned for its untamed beauty. Through the peaceful countryside, you'll come across a variety of wildlife, from wild boar to the occasional Iberian wolf. The silence of the area is broken only by the gentle movement of goats and cattle, while overhead you might spot a majestic golden eagle or the graceful flight of an Egyptian vulture. Escape the usual route and discover extraordinary viewpoints, such as the stunning one at Picote, with panoramic views over the Douro River. Take part in an intimate wine tasting led by the producer himself, where you can learn the history and secrets behind each Douro wine he serves. In the evening, enjoy a meticulously prepared dinner in a typical local restaurant, accompanied by top quality wine that highlights the authentic flavours of regional cuisine.
Following an old railway line converted into an eco-trail, you will pass through fields, woods and enchanting cherry trees. The route continues through olive and almond groves before reaching Torre de Moncorvo, the capital of the Almond Blossom Festival. Before dinner, you'll have the opportunity to watch the artisanal production of Amêndoa Coberta de Moncorvo, a traditional Portuguese sweet, voted one of the 7 Sweet Wonders of Portugal. Made with local almonds covered in a delicate layer of sugar, these little delicacies require patience and mastery. They're served with a glass of port wine, which enhances the sweetness and crunchiness of this typical sweet. In the evening, enjoy dinner in a simple but welcoming atmosphere, where regional flavours are the protagonists, allowing you to savour the essence of Douro cuisine.
This stage takes you along the Douro River, with a descent on a beaten track lined with almond trees. Then, for about 7km, you'll ride on a paved national road, which provides a safe passage as you cycle from Pocinho to Foz do Sabor. Arrive in a village at Vila Flor where you will be welcomed by the producer with an olive oil tasting, followed with a picnic lunch of seasonal local delicacies. You'll spend the night in a farmhouse surrounded by preserved structures that were once used for wine and olive oil production, the owner will greet you with a welcome drink. Savor a farm-to-table dinner with a thoughtfully crafted seven-course tasting menu, that changes with the seasons. You can expect artisan sausages, wild mushrooms, and other regional specialities. Enjoy the comforting flavours of wood-fired wheat bread with extra virgin olive oil, and rich cured sheep's cheese.
Spend the day immersed in the landscapes of the Douro Valley. Shaped by generations of hard work, these vineyards have earned the region UNESCO World Heritage status. Enjoy a relaxing river cruise on a traditional Rabelo boat, once used to transport wine. In Pinhão, visit the iconic railway station, decorated with blue and white tiles depicting local scenes. Enjoy a picnic lunch of regional delicacies such as bread, cheese, sausages, marinated olives with dried cheese, savoury snacks, typical Portuguese sweets and fresh fruit, complemented by local white or red wine. Afterwards, indulge in a wine tasting of Croft's signature Ports, creatively mixed into refreshing cocktails that showcase their versatility. For dinner, you'll be treated to a fine dining experience in a wine estate, with four moments perfectly paired with four different wines from the winery.
The final leg of your adventure takes you along the quiet back roads of the Douro Valley. As you cycle towards the river, the rugged beauty of the valley leaves a lasting impression. By the end of the day, you'll reach Peso da Régua, the capital of the Douro district and the heart of Port wine production. Known for its dramatic landscapes, this region is home to over 125 grape varieties that make up the world-famous Port and Douro wines.

Be sure to try the city's signature dish, Francesinha, a hearty sandwich topped with melted cheese and a rich sauce. Walk across the iconic Luis I Bridge for a guided visit and tasting of different Port Wines in one of the famous Port Wine Cellars. Dine in a bistro and wine bar in the heart of downtown Porto, with a full wine list of over 600 references.
